Purchasing Landscape Tanks
Depending on layout of project and customers’ personal requirements the following items need to be considered.
Considerations when purchasing Landscape Tanks
- The storage capacity and number of tanks required to achieve drought proofing your garden.
- Access to site either through own property or neighbours property.
- Select the best place to locate your tanks for best effect.
- Overflow discharge to storm water when tanks are full.
- Footings requirements and small equipment access to property.
- Review location of services in strategic areas if required.
- Gov. rebates and how to access them.
How many landscape water tanks do I need?
1 square metre of roof collects one litre of rain for every 1mm of rain therefore a 300 square metre roof will collect 300 litres for every 1mm of rain received. It is generally considered that a water tank storage capacity should be at least 10,000 litres to provide adequate water to provide drought relief to gardens and lawns.
Plumbing considerations
Plumbing requirements are rather simple and there are numerous tank plumbing configurations to make installation and plumbing easier. It is possible to order tanks with plumbing orifaces to suit your requirements.
Some properties may have difficulty connecting all downpipes to tanks and as such it is possible to place a pit in the ground at the furthest end of the house and every time the pit fills with water it is transferred to the tanks via an automatic pump.
Tank configurations
The possibilities and design characteristics are endless, so you can afford to let your imagination run wild. Each tank configuration is a different part number.
Retaining walls and water features.
The use of Landscape Tanks as retaining walls, front fences and water features is an excellent use of space and resources.
